All the visionaries
are from humble farmer's families from the village of Bijakovici in the
Parish of Medjugorje. Originally they were all living permanently in Medjugorje,
except for Mirjana who was a city girl from Sarajevo.
At the beginning
all the six of them had a daily Apparition. Now three of them (Marija,
Vicka and Ivan) see Our Lady every day, the three others have an Apparition
only once a year.
Our Lady has
given nine secrets to the ones who see her on a daily basis.
Jakov, Ivanka
and Mirjana who see her only once a year have received the ten secrets.
The secrets
are about the future of the world, the Parish of Medjugorje and some are
simply about the personal life of the visionaries. None of them have been
revealed.
Vicka
Ivankovic
Born in 1964,
has still daily Apparitions.
The last one
of the visionaries to get married, in January 2002.
Every morning
she speaks to the pilgrims in front of her house about Our Lady's messages.
She is a very strong witness and a strong character. She is perhaps the
most loved of the visionaries, her joy and love are so obvious that everyone
is happy to meet her and just to shake her hand. She is also the one who
was tested by God through many trials, especially through sicknesses and
accidents. In spite of all this Vicka seems always to be active and very
happy. She lives in Medjugorje.
Ivan
Dragicevic
Born in 1965,
He still has daily Apparitions.
He is the founder
and the head of the visionaries' prayer group. Through him Our Lady guides
the members of the prayer group with her messages.
Apart from
his regular daily meetings with the Gospa, Ivan sometimes has evening Apparitions
at around 10 p.m. at the Blue Cross (location in Bijakovici) or on the
top of Apparition Hill. Usually pilgrims are welcomed to gather around
him during these nightly outside Apparitions.
He is a strong
witness of Our Lady's messages and receives special messages concerning
young people and families.
Ivan has married
a beautiful american woman and lives in the U.S. but comes often to Medjugorje.
Mirjana
Dragicevic-Soldo
Born in 1965,
has had daily Apparitions until December 25,1982.
On the last
day of her daily Apparitions, Our Lady told her that for the rest of her
life she will have an Apparition once a year on March 18, her birthday.
Since August
2, 1987, on each second day of the month, she hears Our Lady's voice within
herself and prays with her for unbelievers. Sometimes she also sees her.
Our Lady has
given a special mission to Mirjana: to pray for the unbelievers, or rather
as the Gospa (Our Lady) puts it, "For those who have not yet experienced
the love of God."
Mirjana lives
in Medjugorje.
Jakov
Colo
Born in 1971.
The youngest of the visionaries. He has had daily apparitions until
September 12, 1998. That day Our Lady entrusted to him the tenth secret
and said that she will keep on appearing to him once a year on Christmas
Day.
Jakov is married
to a beautiful italian girl and he is a father. He lives a discreet life
but sometimes speaks to the pilgrims about Our Lady's messages. He lives
in Medjugorje.
