On January 1, 2001 Our Lady did something unusual: she invited Marija for a non scheduled Apparition on the hill of Podbrdo.
Usually it is Ivan, and not Marija, who has Apparitions in the evenings on that location, therefore Marija was surprised and she knew Our Lady wanted to tell her something special.
Here is the very important message Our Lady gave to Marija on this first day of 2001:

"Dear children,
Tonight, in a special way, I wanted you to be here.
In a special way Satan is now free from his chains.
I invite you to consecrate yourselves to my Heart and to the Heart of my Son.
In a special way, my dear children, I invite you to stand next to me through your prayers.
I bless you with my motherly blessing.
Go in the peace of God, my dear children."

commentary:
We cannot rule out the fact that this message could be a prophecy about difficult events to happen in the year 2001.
Our Lady, though, has said that we should not be afraid because if we have faith and if we pray, God will always take care of us and protect us.
At the same time, if the world continues to live as if God did not exist, things cannot go in a positive way.
The Virgin Mary told Mirjana that catastrophes could be avoided if humanity  turned to God in a massive way.
But that is not likely to happen soon.
When Mirjana told Our Lady that she could not understand how God could punish the world, Mary answered:
"Watch people in the streets and tell me how many of them are serving God.
Very few people! God cannot stand this anymore."
But Our Lady said that we could always lessen the chastisements by prayer and fasting.
